In the world of business and entrepreneurship, Forbes is the equivalent of Vogue in the world of fashion and style. So, it was an honor to have an interview that covered why I wrote Elegant Entrepreneur, why I chose that specific title, and why women need and deserve their own guide to founding a company in Forbes!
The U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce issued a detailed statistical report and “wake-up call” highlighting the disparity between the number of women business owners in America and their revenues. This report gives added urgency and value to my book. While women are starting companies, 70% of those businesses have less than $25,000 in annual revenue. I don’t care where you live… it is impossible to “make a living” on $25,000.
Aspiring female founders need to make sure they have good business ideas, and understand the hard questions that must be answered to determine that their idea is truly business-worthy. They also need to know the steps to building a company, growing fast, overcoming setbacks and competition and how to sustain their businesses in an ever-changing market. Elegant Entrepreneur was written to provide that information in a way that makes sense to smart women who don’t necessarily have a business background.
